Studio Notes grew from a collection of original drawings created by D. Dean Givens during the years he and his wife owned Mosaic Alcove.

Each volume brings three of those original studio drawings back to the worktable. You'll see the original archival drawing, a clean working version, explorations of tesserae and andamento, and one finished mosaic interpretation.

These are not patterns to copy exactly. They are starting points, an invitation to look, experiment, and discover your own way of making.

Then I'd show a small selection of images like the one you just made. Not enough to give away the projects—just enough for someone to understand what they're buying.
